A Message from our Chairman
Dear Friends:
We are very pleased to announce that Generation to Generation, Inc. is in its second year of operation. Founded with a mission to encourage and build relationships through meaningful activities, Generation to Generation, Inc. has an office at Misericordia University. Through a grant from the Area Agency on Aging, a staff person will be assigned to the office. While most of the activities have been planned and developed by the Board of Directors, additional volunteer staff support is expected to help in this regard. It is also important to note that the Luzerne Foundation has generously agreed to manage the funds that are reserved by our organization.
Designed to serve people of all ages, with particular emphasis on keeping our senior citizens active, Generation to Generation, Inc. has had several activities that have enriched the lives of many during our first year of operation. We coordinated efforts for a youth choir to visit with and entertain seniors in the Meadows Nursing Home. We arranged skiing and bike trips for people of various ages. At Christmastime, people of various ages rang the bell for Salvation Army, which was arranged through a local Kiwanis organization. Several socials and entertainment were arranged to enable people to come together. Presently, we are planning a dance that will gather people of all ages to spend time, share memories, and have fun. Plans are also underway to spend an evening at the Friedman Observatory on the Penn Sate Lehman Campus to “star gaze”.
Success has been achieved in seeing people enjoy themselves in good, healthy activities. We are happy to say that more is on the way. As we begin our second year of operation, we have also realized that to continue our success, we will have to rely on the generosity of our wonderful friends in the community. Some of our friends have been generous to us but more is needed. It is our sincere hope that the kindness of people will enable Generation to Generation, inc. to continue its efforts to assist in continuing and expanding the activities that can be so meaningful to many. Your support would be very much appreciated. Thank you again for all that you do.
Sincerely,
Joseph DeVizia
Chairman,
